Yellow diamond, is a fancy colour variety of diamond that gets its colour from the presence of nitrogen within its structure. Yellow being the most popular of the fancy colours and usually is beyond a Z colour grading on the GIA scale making its colour rare and extremely attractive. They are graded as fancy light, fancy, fancy intense, fancy dark and fancy deep or fancy vivid according to the tone and saturation of their colour. Tiffany and co played a part in the popularity of yellow diamonds when in 1878 under the supervision of a very famous gemmologist, George Kunz they had an impressive 128.51 carat cushion cut stone created which went on to become their emblem. It was put on display for 70 years on 5th Avenue and attracted millions of admirers.
