Amethyst is the majestic birthstone of February. It is a member of the quartz family and is found in deep rich purple hues and paler tones of violet and lavender called ‘Rose de France’.The "name" comes from the Koine Greek ‘amethystos’, meaning ‘intoxicate’, a reference to the belief that the stone protected its wearer from becoming drunk. Historically, amethyst is known to have energetic powers and healing properties. It is given on a 6th wedding anniversary.
