Green Amethyst also know as prasiolite derived its name from two Greek words ‘prason’ ‘lithos’ meaning leek stone. Pale in colour this form of quartz crystal has been heat treated to give it its colour. Not only is this charming stone a magnificent visual feast but it is said to have energetic powers and healing properties. The name comes from the Koine Greek ‘amethystos’, meaning ‘intoxicate’, a reference to the belief that the stone protected its wearer from becoming drunk.
